Which tool or method is the easiest to make notches in the deck posts for crosses and to attach it to the deck? Miter saw with adjustable depth? Router or some other way.
 
Handsaw and chisel? isn't that the easiest? you're done before "the other one" has set up the miter saw :)
 
A handsaw is not fun to work with when you need to "notch" posts; they are often really wet, and it goes insanely slow to saw.

I went and bought the cheapest reciprocating saw they had at Jula, 399 SEK I believe, and a coarse blade. I sawed the notches and then hit with a large chisel, probably saved several hours on my 22 posts.
