Made a notch in the stud, risk of rot?
I have made some notches in the studs where they rest on the plinth iron. The notches are about 2 cm and I see that it's deeper than the impregnation, is there a risk of rot? One of the notches ended up right on a knot and the stud cracked a little, should it be replaced?

The core of the fur always survives, so there is no risk of rot. Generally speaking, one should avoid notches in that position. Whether it has any structural consequences in your case cannot be assessed without a picture and measurements.

Thank you for the response. Should one still place a papp in between or brush on some oil?
The rule is 195x45mm. Uploading a picture of the crack. I don't think it looks like it should be dangerous but I have no knowledge.

You can probably disregard both the checking and the crack. It's a rather strong dimension, though not C 24 quality, which should be used for larger constructions. The pressure treatment only affects the sapwood. The heartwood will be fine anyway. In this situation, neither felt nor oil is needed.
I assume he bases it on the fact that there are two larger knots that are too close to each other to qualify as C24, but with machine-sorted wood, quite a bit slips through that doesn't really qualify as C24 but is still stamped as such...R Robiban said:
