Asked in another forum, but no answer so asking here as well:

Planning to possibly have my old wooden floors lye-treated.
Does anyone know how I should manage with my cats?
Can they be in adjacent rooms in the house during the actual lye treatment? Or will there be a strong/harmful odor in the indoor air? And when can they walk on the floors after the lye treatment without risking exposure to harmful substances from the treated floors? As you know, cats sniff around everywhere...

Anyone knows?
Anyone been in the same situation? How did you handle it? :)

The floor usually needs to dry for a day and then you polish off the excess (if I'm not completely mistaken?). During this time and until you have cleaned the area from polishing dust, the cats might need to be in another room.
