I am a new homeowner and not at all experienced in construction, but hopefully that will change soon... I hope so.
We are building a new bathroom and have therefore ripped up the floor and floor joists. This is to be able to run plumbing, etc. in the crawl space, but mainly to lower the floor so that it aligns with the adjoining room after floorboard and leveling compound, etc.
My question is what is the best way to lower the new floor joists?
* Cast a lower sill next to the current one to reach the correct level?
* Joist hangers on the sill and then cut out part of the new joists so they can rest on the existing sill?
I'm just speculating, hoping someone here knows this inside and out
