Hello, I need to remove a type of molding that surrounds the end of a wall. It runs from floor to ceiling. I guess there are nails under the paint that hold it in place, maybe glue too.

What is the best way to remove something like this? The wall is drywall.
See image.

What is this kind of molding even called?

  • A vertical molding strip from floor to ceiling on a drywall wall edge, possibly nailed and glued, with a blue hallway and wooden cabinet in the background.
Start by cutting with a utility knife, then insert something like a smaller pry bar between the wall baseboard and break, start at the bottom so the floor trim might cover any marks!
If you damage it, replace it with a planed pine board that you paint to match the wall color or buy a pre-painted MDF.

I placed a block along the molding and hammered it to make it release a few millimeters... you could then try to hammer the board back from the other side, if you're lucky the nails will stick out and you can remove them with a crowbar... otherwise, you have to take the entire molding with a crowbar between the molding and the wall.

Thank you both, it was possible to knock it out with kloss.
