I am installing broadband in the house and also placing outlets. I have an interior wall where I will put two rosettes on both sides of the wall. I have removed the door and plan to push in a pipe above the door (for the ethernet cable). The problem is that around the door there is U-shaped sheet metal (metal stud?). Is it possible to loosen the upper of these metal studs(?) so that one can access above? There are recurring "holes" in the metal stud, so I think it should be possible to run a pipe above. I have attached photos of what it looks like. What is likely holding the stud(?) above the door? The few drywall/metal screws that are there, or is it some form of fastening surfaces between the metal studs(?)

  • Doorway frame with exposed metal studs and drywall; a green dress hangs on a door in the background.
  • Close-up view of a removed door frame showing a metal U-shaped stud or track above the door opening, with visible drywall edges.
  • Inside view of a wall with removed door, showing patterned wallpaper, a light switch, and open space above for potential broadband cable installation.
  • Close-up of a U-shaped metal stud exposed in a doorway wall, with gypsum board partially removed to reveal screws and framing details.
