Hello,

I bought door knob B496, 28mm diameter, 18mm depth from Beslagsboden at Byggmax:
https://www.byggmax.se/inredning/beslag/knoppar/knopp-beslagsboden-silver-p258222

This is what the screw for the door knob looks like:
A metal screw on a white background, intended for attaching a door knob but too short for 3.2 cm thick doors.

But my old wardrobe doors are 3.2cm thick and the screws provided are about 2.5cm.
Where can I buy screws that are long and fit the knobs?
I went to K-rauta, Byggmax, and Clasohlson but found nothing that would fit.

Mounting screws have a good length and thickness but I don't think the threads fit:

Are there other options?

Thanks in advance

M4 machine screw any. With washer if they don't have cheese heads (trade slang for domed).

Best regards, Findus

Clas Ohlson otherwise has these in various lengths. Bought some there as recently as a few weeks ago. I believe they are called beslagsskruv.

Bauhaus has a lot of screws and bolts in bulk.

I've filled in the old hole in the door; can I screw into the patched area, or will the filler crack?

Thanks in advance

If you are going to screw into the hole anyway, why was it filled in?

If the wardrobe door is dented where the old screw head was, and you have filled it in with putty, there is a high risk that the putty will break when it is stressed by the new screw head. To prevent this, it is advisable to put a large washer on the screw.

The previous owner had drilled the hole too large and used the short screw along with a bunch of toilet paper to keep the doorknob in place, but it wobbled, of course.

I think I'll have to drill somewhere else.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think it's a problem at all to drill into the spackle, start with a smaller drill bit.

Is pre-drilling with a 3mm drill sufficient or should it be smaller?

Thanks in advance
