I have a question regarding our stair railing.
It was broken by the excavator and needs to be replaced. The thing is, the railing is curved and 6.5m long.
How should I proceed?

I don't want to break the curve at any post, but want a nice bend along the entire railing, preferably no thicker than 30mm.

I attempted to clamp together two 15x95 planed boards, but it immediately cracked at the joints.

How do you make it hold together?
Can you buy such a long plank somewhere?

The radius of the whole thing is about 60cm.

  • A curved green stair railing overlooking a grassy area, with concrete steps leading downward. The railing is attached to metal posts.

Squeezing together 2 pieces of 15x95 should otherwise be a pro tip. You need to use waterproof urethane glue when bonding them. It usually works.

The frames of the East Indiaman were built like that and there you have a bit more stress than wobbly pensioners. ;)

The thing was that I had a length of 5.05, so it became a short piece of 1.45, same on the other side.
It was in the joints that it cracked when I bent it.
PU glue you say...I'll have to give it another try! =)

forgot one thing; you also need five-eleven clamps. The PU glue expands with great force. When you moisten the glue surfaces, it’s a question of them being soaking wet. Don’t skimp on the water. A hose is recommended. A plant spray is for wimps.
