Hello!
I'm really a beginner at everything related to construction, but I'm the type who likes to try to solve the problem myself. However, I absolutely don't want to do anything unless I'm sure it will hold. I'm going to build a loft in my apartment in one part of a room that is 6x4m, so at the end towards one short side, it will be about 2m out into the room and thus roughly 4m between the walls.
I envision having it like an inner ceiling under the loft, and a floor above, where the bed is recessed into the floor, so the profile of the loft will be about 30cm or something like that. Now the question is a bit about sizing and fastening.
I've been considering using joist hangers with expansion screws in the wall. I'm not quite sure if the wall is concrete or brick; if it's brick, perhaps some other fastening needs to be done. The innermost beam can be attached to the short side of the wall, and then my idea is that it will be 30 cm out into the room, then a gap for the bed. The bed is intended to be 140cm, so the next beam will be 170cm out, and the last beam 200 out. The question is whether this construction would work, and some thoughts about sizing the beams. I want to be really sure it will hold. 45x225-laminated timber somewhere, could that be reasonable, for example, if everything else seems okay.
I'll paste a very simple sketch that I created very beautifully in paint
In the actual bed space, there will probably be a frame around along the beams that the mattress can rest on.
