Locking pliers for steel studs.
Hello!
I'm working in the basement and am planning to build some new interior walls.
Now I need to get hold of a fixing plier to join the steel frames I've bought. I visited Beijer today to check, and they wanted to sell one to me for just over 2000 SEK, which doesn't seem feasible.
Therefore, I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a cheaper one, wants to sell a used one to me, or rent one to me? I live in Västerås.
All suggestions are gratefully received
Best regards,
Jonas Franzén

Hello!
I have bought screws, but pliers would be much better as they don't add any depth to the wall. I've also considered riveting the studs together.
In one area, I'm going to have a shower with an elongated unidrain drain, and when I cast the drain I didn't account for the extra 2mm that the screw gives. I've only made space for the rail and two boards behind the drain. However, I have some ideas on how I can solve it, but as mentioned, the best and simplest solution would be to get a hold of pliers.

Hi, thanks for the tips!
The plan is to have OSB board underneath, so the screw heads will not sink into the board in the way you mean. 2mm might have been a bit of an exaggeration, it will probably only build about 1-1.5mm, this will also mean that the wall will be slightly concave.

Okay, that's quite a bit cheaper. I'll check if I can get one from there, thanks for the help!
If anyone else here has one and is willing to rent it to me, please let me know.
Best regards, Jonas.

Jula has one for 199 :- don't know how good it is, but it probably works

Built a short wall with metal studs and minerite in my bathroom. I lightly screwed the studs together with the screws that I then used to screw the minerite. When the minerite was screwed on, the heads disappeared into the metal and everything became stable as it was all screwed together.
Yes, the one at Jula would probably have been good, I went in there and asked if they had any but they said no, so I didn't bother to check their website. It shows how well-informed they are.
I ended up ordering the following pliers from England:
http://www.qwikfast.co.uk/catalogue/edma-master-profil-single-handed-setting-pliers-p-9396.html
However, it seems like they raised the price on the pliers right after I ordered them because I only paid 44 pounds for them.
Thanks for all the ideas.

The same tång is available at Hornbach for about 750:-
Normally, you should be able to attach the track to the ceiling and floor and then just place the wall profiles, and they should stay in place until you put up the first layer of boards. So in your case, when you put up your OSB, you should be able to attach the wall profiles to the tracks with this screw. Use screws with the appropriate head (particleboard screw type) so you countersink the head in the OSB board without tearing the sheet metal. Can work with drywall screws for metal, although the head is often slightly too large. Normally not a problem, though, if the head sticks out slightly when you plan to drywall over.jonasfranz said:
I have the cheap rivet pliers from Jula. Works just fine. It becomes much easier to continue working if the studs are already together before you start fiddling with the boards. (professionals probably think it's too cumbersome, a happy semi-amateur thinks the pliers are good to have...)
I also have that one. I haven't tried "a real" one but this feels just fine. Probably more cumbersome to use than a professional version, but it's quite affordable and gets the job done.bigsnucke said:
