Hi! I see there are many threads on the subject, so here's another one. Do you think the circled wall is load-bearing? Single-story house with a basement. Built in '90.

Thinking isn't knowing ;-) To know if a wall is load-bearing, you often need to check on-site.

But I think it's not load-bearing because it cuts across the house's longitudinal direction, so likely the roof joists run in the same direction, and they should then rest on the longitudinal wall in the middle.

It's also important to know how it looks above in the attic, which tells a lot about whether it is load-bearing. Also, take control measurements before you tear it down to see if the ceiling sags when the wall disappears.

What does the drawing for the trusses (the house's average) look like?

Could it be this in this picture?

Given the design of the trusses, the walls likely do not have a load-bearing function.

However, they might have a stabilizing function, but the one you had marked probably does not.

The best approach is usually to remove the panels on the wall; if it appears to have been installed after the ceiling/floor, it's completely safe to remove, if not, it might be side-stabilizing.

Hello, I'll add the same question in the thread. Is the wall load-bearing?

I would like to tear down the small wall, which is currently a pantry, to slightly enlarge the kitchen.
Spontaneously, it feels like the wall is not load-bearing. It's thin and stands next to walls that feel more likely to be load-bearing. But I'm very inexperienced, hence the question.
The house is from 1906.
Thank you in advance.
Probably not. But create your own thread on this since your house is not the same as the thread starter's.
