I have encountered problems with cracks on the wall in our newly renovated living room. It is probably settlements. We live in a single-storey house of 122 m2 built in 1991. We have increased the opening of an arch by 20 cm in an already arched wall that goes through the house. Our inspector said that only the outer walls are load-bearing, but could it be that this opening has caused our problems (getting a little worried). What should I do in that case? Could it be that the wall has been load-bearing after all? There are two large arches in it and it is not reinforced but just studded in the usual way and clad with particleboard. Grateful for answers.

It's not uncommon for the middle wall to also be load-bearing. What width do you have of the house? ???

Don't really know. About 8 meters.

Do you know the type of truss and the dimensions of the timber?

More important is the wall dimension... And "There are two large arches in it and it is not reinforced but just framed in the usual way and covered with chipboard." is hmmm load-bearing structure R30 let's hope so, chipboard doesn't seem serious... the wall should be at least 145 mm and contain 2 gypsum, 95 frame, 2 gypsum, alternative is 1 layer of gypsum replaced with a layer of ply or osb
