Load-bearing wall? Who performs inspections to determine if it's load-bearing?
I'm planning to renovate a bit in the basement and will be tearing down two walls. Who do you contact to find out if these walls are load-bearing or not? I'm almost 100% sure they're not, as there's a massive concrete heart wall running straight through the house, and these walls are maybe 2-3cm thick! But I still want a professional to have a say in order to be completely sure.
Is there anyone who can provide names of people/companies in the Gävle area? That would be wonderful. And has anyone hired someone to do this and knows what it might cost for an inspection?

You should contact the building permit office in your municipality. I'm pretty sure they have construction drawings of the house. If it's a load-bearing wall, you'll probably need to seek permission if your changes would affect its load-bearing capacity.
If the wall is only 2 - 3 cm thick, then it cannot be load-bearing. If you put weight on it, it will bulge out and thus lose all load-bearing capacity.

harry73, from what I have read, walls can be "assist load-bearing" if there are several close to each other, even if they are narrow and feel a bit "flimsy". But I'm not sure if that's completely accurate either, so I want to have someone come here who can give me a 100% guarantee that I can tear down the walls, because it would feel pretty dumb to end up with half of the ground floor in the basement afterward
