Hello
I have been a member for a while and have read a lot on the forum, and now it's time to seek advice for my own project.
We have recently acquired a Skånelänga built around 1860 with masonry stone walls and a plaster facade, therefore I can't see if there is any timber framing. But most likely not. We are going to install an air-to-air heat pump and that made it relevant to think a bit about the future layout, to place the heat pump so it doesn't cause any issues later.
We would like to open up and make the living room a bit larger and would like to hear if you have any experiences with the construction technique. The floor framing is approximately cc 120 with a load-bearing wall running through the house. In the living room, there is a wooden beam (red) in the attic that supports two beams, with support against the chimney and inner wall. We would like to take down the outer part of this inner wall.
Do you think this wall section (circled in blue) could be taken down or does it have any supporting function considering the beam in the attic with support against the inner wall? The floor framing is supported by the outer walls.
Attached is a sketch, hopefully, it is understandable.
Grateful for ideas and experience.
With best regards
Mikael
