Hi,

Can someone help me and tell me if the highlighted wall is load-bearing or not?
(I will of course ask the association, but I need some info already).
The house is from 1884 and we live on the ground floor. Our neighbors above us don't have this wall at all.

Floor plan showing a highlighted wall in the kitchen area, questioned for load-bearing status in an 1884 building.

  • Floor plan from 1884 building; query about load-bearing wall in ground floor marked in yellow.
If the neighbors above don't have it and the apartments are otherwise identical, there is reason to assume that it can be removed. Normally, one should assume that thicker walls are often load-bearing or fire-separating, and these are indeed thicker, but on the other hand, slanted walls are not often load-bearing, so it is not really something that can be determined from the drawing.

What I can see is that there is a chimney breast in part of the wall and these are always load-bearing.
