Load-bearing stair railing?

Hi, I'm planning to work on the staircase and have encountered some issues.

I was thinking of taking down the railing, or at least parts of it. However, I'm a bit unsure if the railing supports the staircase in any way, I don't think it should be the case but I'm not entirely sure, hence my question to those of you hopefully more knowledgeable

The staircase looks like this, the railing is only attached between the stringers and is not anchored to the floor.

I have a similar staircase where I have removed the banister and it still hasn't collapsed.

Hehe good to hear. Couldn't help myself so the trellis is gone here too now, did a test jump and it holds like a rock. Just have to hope that it stays as it should, if not, I'll definitely notice it ;D
