Hi, I'm planning to work on the staircase and have encountered some issues.

I was thinking of taking down the railing, or at least parts of it. However, I'm a bit unsure if the railing supports the staircase in any way, I don't think it should be the case but I'm not entirely sure, hence my question to those of you hopefully more knowledgeable :)

The staircase looks like this, the railing is only attached between the stringers and is not anchored to the floor.

  • Wooden staircase with a wooden railing, featuring vertical and horizontal slats. The railing is attached between stringers and isn't anchored to the floor.
  • Wooden staircase with railing attached between stringers, boxes and materials in the background. User questioning if railing supports the staircase.
I have a similar staircase where I have removed the banister and it still hasn't collapsed. :)

Hehe good to hear. Couldn't help myself so the trellis is gone here too now, did a test jump and it holds like a rock. Just have to hope that it stays as it should, if not, I'll definitely notice it ;D

The result was as follows:

  • White spiral staircase with wooden steps and a small decorative figure placed on one step.
  • Wooden staircase with visible steps and railing in an indoor setting, showing the completed construction result.
It was really a boost!
