Hello everyone.

We have recently acquired a barn where we want to replace the lower part of a wall since it has rotted. We, therefore, planned to borrow 2 jacks and replace it piece by piece. But when I looked behind the upper panels, it seems like the roof is not supported by the wall, and even on the ground, it looks like there is a structure behind it. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Is my assumption correct that it is not load-bearing?

Thanks in advance
Kind regards
Fabian

  • The image shows a deteriorated wooden barn wall with rot at the base and some missing panels. Pieces of wood and debris are scattered on the gravel ground.
  • View of decayed lower wall section inside a barn, showing damaged wood and adjacent support structures. Dust and debris are visible on the surface.
  • Close-up of a dark, narrow space between wall panels and a wooden beam, possibly showing non-load-bearing structure as part of a barn renovation.
  • Close-up of decaying wooden beam at the barn’s base, showing soil and debris beneath, questioning if the structure is load-bearing.
  • View of the interior of a barn wall with visible wood beams and underlying structure, suggesting non-load-bearing elements, surrounded by dirt and debris.
