Hello,

After tearing down a wall, I am now going to mount trim and molding on the seam where I tore it down. As you can see in the pictures, the wall is quite uneven compared to the trim. What is the best way to solve this? My thought is to nail in wooden strips as filler where the gaps are largest and then nail the final trim onto that. Is this something that could work?

  • Wall edge showing uneven surface after removal, with a skirting board nearby. Indoor view includes a table, chairs, plants, and a lamp.
  • Uneven wall edge compared to molding after wall removal, with discussion on using wooden strips as filler before nailing final molding.
  • An uneven wall gap after demolition, with tools on the floor for installing trim and molding to cover the irregularity.

Load up the outer piece with intermediary layers, glue many small pieces, and place trim (available in wide sizes) on both sides to cover the hole; what the eye doesn't see, it doesn't cry for. There will be a small hole behind, but what does it matter?
