Have found a tear in the metal roof that wasn't there when we moved in, if you look at the bottom, it looks like it got hot there.

So I'm wondering if it could be a lightning strike? Or?

It's a very large steep roof. I'm a bit suspicious since our house has an exhaust for the central vacuum cleaner on the top, making our house the highest in the area :-/

It has started to rust there as the paint has come off, but how can you fix it? Paint? Is it urgent?

A metal roof with a noticeable crack, possibly due to lightning strike, showing signs of rust where the paint has peeled off.

A tear in a metal roof, possibly from heat or lightning, with visible rust where paint has peeled off.

Grateful for help! :-)

It's not an ice block that's been torn up when it crashes down? (speculating)
or a crow that has crash-landed ;)

Thinking that if lightning strikes, the roof should curl up and float away to the neighbor's.

When lightning strikes pines, a similar crack often appears in the bark. Wider but quite similar to your picture...

What else is in line with this tear? Is it as straight as it looks?

When did you move in?
