Hello!

In connection with the rain yesterday, we discovered a leak in the laundry room ceiling at a fluorescent light fixture. The laundry room is located under the porch, which is made of concrete. There are cracks in an old repair on the outside of the porch above the fluorescent light, and it seems likely that water enters there when water pools on the stairs when it's windy.

I would prefer to chisel out the crack and pour new concrete, but I’m unsure if it's possible at this time of year. The temperature is expected to vary between 9 and -3 over the next week. Can it be done? The crack is a total of 4.5 m long, to be chiseled up to 3 dm wide and max 1 dm deep.

If anyone has any other tips for a temporary repair that can last over the winter if casting becomes difficult, I would gladly welcome it as well. I'm considering something with plastic, cardboard, or some simple sealing, but all ideas are welcome.

  • Ceiling light fixture with water leakage and a visible drop; above is a rough surface with a water droplet forming, indicating a leak issue.
  • Concrete porch with visible cracks and wet patches, surrounded by white railing and decorative potted plants near a wooden door.
  • Cracked and weathered concrete surface with visible damage and water spots, possibly indicating a source of leakage beneath a veranda.
