We have an old wooden house built in the late 1800s where we want to lay tiles in the hallway. We understand that we can't lay tiles directly on the wooden floor, so the question is; what do we put down first? Floor gypsum boards? Leveling compound between them and then lay the tiles? Grateful for many good answers!
Floor gypsum sounds good. They are laid tightly against each other, so you don't need to use any leveling compound between them.
P.S. Don't forget to consider that it adds a lot of height and can therefore affect thresholds and doors.
