It's incredibly difficult to find information about laundry room walls made of masonite.
We are going to freshen up the laundry room, which was built and wallpapered in 1974!

It's masonite.
After we tore off the "beautiful" red-flowered 70s wet room wallpaper, we found very well-preserved masonite boards behind.

Now we have to choose wall covering. What does anyone know about this

1. Is it appropriate to apply a few layers of primer, put up a fabric and paint with wet room paint, etc. ??? (That was our first thought....)

2. After seeing how nice the wall was underneath, I'm starting to lean towards not sealing too much against the masonite. I'm considering whether it might be good to just cover the whole room with panels. Then it would be very airy against the masonite.

3. We didn't want wallpaper on the walls, but considering that it went so well until now.....maybe that's what we should have, right?

4. At Bauhaus, you can buy ready-made wet room walls with nice designs. Then you tear out the masonite and mount these directly on the studs. (I don't know what they're called at the moment). A colleague recommended this. Now, this isn't exactly about a bathroom, but a laundry room with a little steam from hanging laundry, splashes from the wash basin, and similar. Is it worth it?

:confused::confused::o
