What does nine think about a latex sealant that will be completely enclosed: Will it last as long as the vapor barrier? Not using it to glue plastic sheeting but to seal between battens and rafters.
I saw someone recommended Sika's Igaspistol but can't find it anywhere. I was at the professional market Optimera (Malmö Trä) today but they didn't have it, which makes me think it's not any good.

I'd rather believe in silicone, but be careful with cheap silicone as it contains a lot of filler material instead of silicone.
I'm going to stir the pot and make an accusation against an entire profession!
I've been hunting for sealing products for vapor barriers for a week, but no building shop sells them. The products I'm talking about are:
Mataki Teno sealant
Sika IgasPistolet
T-emballage TFlex
All of these are designed to create a durable and long-lasting seal between the vapor barrier and, for example, wood. Yet they are not available in building shops for professional builders. (I found Sika at Ahlsell in Arlöv). When I talk to the manufacturers, they are surprised but well aware that the products aren't sold. They often sell large batches directly to larger construction companies.
The question I'm now asking myself is whether all the smaller builders in Sweden are doing a poor job regarding the sealing of vapor barriers. Are they all construction frauds?

I've seen both T-flex and Sika IgasPistolet at retailers where I live, but you're right that they are probably mostly sold in large quantities to bigger companies. At my job, we use T-flex, and a number of boxes arrive at regular intervals, so I buy mine there at a much better price than at the building shop. Additionally, it's the best construction tape I've used, it has amazing adhesive.MagnusRö said:I'm going to stir the pot and make an accusation against an entire profession!
