Landing area when there is a wall in front of the stairs?

Need to decide exactly where the straight staircase should be installed in the cabin. Trying to determine what distance there should be in front of the staircase and against the wall for smooth movement down/up the staircase? 90cm, 100cm, or even more?

Can't find any information about this when I google.

I really don't know anyone who has a straight staircase with a wall in front, and it feels difficult to guess the necessary distance.

Is there, for example, some kind of standard that is followed in new constructions?

Depends on what's on the second floor, if you need to get furniture up the stairs in the future, how the area in front of the stairs should be utilized... ...
But the suggestion of 1 m sounds good...
50 cm could work for a sleeping loft, but it feels very cramped...

Try placing a friend with some form of board at the bottom of a staircase, that way you get a "movable wall" that you can experiment with...

There will be a sleeping loft on the upper floor, so mattress toppers and possibly a sofa bed in the living room up there must go up the stairs.

Smart with the board, will test it.

Will check the drawing again but should be able to get the distance to 1.2m if I mount the stairs as close to the hall opening as possible. The area in front of the stairs will only be for going up/down the stairs since there is a window on that wall anyway.

approximately 1.2 in front of the stairs down to the basement, and it works well, I have never experienced it as cramped.
Have carried down/up a sofa without major problems.
