Hi! I'm renovating a room in the basement to become a "nice workshop," and currently, I have a long wall with wood paneling that's been there for 15+ years. The room is actively ventilated with supply air from an FTX system.
I need to level the floor with self-leveling compound and replaster the other three walls.
The basement doesn't smell at all, and I haven't noticed any moisture issues. Can I keep the paneling on this wall if I maybe trim off a centimeter from the floor? I'd really prefer not to do anything to that wall.
If it is an outer wall I would have removed, there might be insulation behind that you should remove. If that's not the case and there are metal studs behind, it's calmer.
Forgot to add this picture as well. No insulation. This panel is on one short side that will then be removed. It is a partially exterior wall but I have a patio on that side. So not much moisture in the ground where this wall is.
