I'm planning to build some larger gates, 4m long. Ideally, it would be best to use glulam or laminated wood to reduce the risk of twisting, but I'm considering taking a chance with pressure-treated timber. I find it's rare that they warp, but maybe I've just been lucky.
Anyway, I thought maybe twisting can be prevented by joining 2 or 3 pieces of 22mm planks instead of using a 45mm or 70mm beam? Could that work? I think if you manage to orient the planks so that any potential twisting cancels each other out, it should work.
IF it can work - how do you know how the planks should be oriented relative to each other?
