works but gets dusty. drywall knife and hand saw work well
I got tired of how dusty it was, so I bought a plasterboard saw.

Sturdy enough that you don't need to drill a hole to start sawing in the middle of a plasterboard; just hold it firm and thrust the saw into the board since the blade is hard so it doesn't bend. There will naturally be plaster dust, but the difference is that it settles on the floor instead of swirling in the air.

Works well with a jigsaw, use low speed and have the vacuum cleaner connected, of course, this requires that you have such a connection. I use a Bosch 135á, and on it, you can also attach a transparent guard at the front to prevent chips from flying forward and also improve suction towards the vacuum cleaner when you want to minimize dust, though it gets a bit cumbersome with the hose.
