I have built a grill hut but have had problems with smoke coming in. I have just replaced the chimney pipe because I thought the problem was that I had too narrow a pipe (diameter 100mm.) Now the pipe is 250mm in diameter but the smoke still stubbornly comes in anyway, some of the smoke seems to go up a bit in the hood but then turns back down again and into the hut. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

Try taking a page from the morning newspaper, roll it up and set it on fire, then hold the paper up in the chimney until it has burned up, only then light the grill.

Thanks for the answer "korvgubbe" I understand what you mean but it doesn't matter how long the grill has been burning, it still smokes inside. In the beginning, it's not so bad, but when the meat or whatever you're grilling is put on, there's more smoke, and it seems like something isn't right because some of the smoke turns back from the hood and into the hut. Maybe something with the draft in the chimney?

How high is the chimney? How are you managing the air supply? With too little air supply, the fire may draw air through the chimney, causing the smoke that is on its way out to reverse.

Hello and thank you for the response. Compared to others, my chimney is probably a bit higher, the length of the pipe itself is 120 cm and is about 40 cm above the ridge. I have outside air intake through a pipe that comes in under the fireplace. I am now wondering if the air intake needs to be in proportion to the chimney pipe's diameter to achieve good draft?
