Hello!

I am planning to divide a large room we have upstairs in our 1½-story house with a new interior wall. I want the option to possibly take down the wall in the future without it being too obvious that there was a wall there, and to save myself some work right now as well. The wall will be placed where there is no stud/rafter behind the sloped ceiling. Therefore, I am considering fastening the upcoming gypsum wall's stud to the sloped ceiling with something like a screw in each of the existing panel boards (which run horizontally along the room). The only load the stud needs to take is along the length of the panel and not any vertical/hanging load since that is absorbed by the floor, which makes me feel fairly comfortable with the idea.

I know it doesn't feel quite right, but does anyone think the idea is too crazy? ;)

It's an excellent idea, especially if you plan to demolish it in the future.
