HELLO, I'm thinking about painting the whole house with järnvitriol.
ALL the paint shops say that it can't be done because it will start to mold, etc. Is there anyone knowledgeable in the area, it looks so nice... ::)

Hello!

I have an aunt who has built a summer cottage on Öland with a facade treated with järnvitriol. It's constantly windy and troublesome there because they have the entire Kalmar Sound in front of the house. The winters are really harsh with rain coming down in small sharp drops, etc. It has held up incredibly well and they have no problems with rot. I'm going to build a garage in the spring, and of course, it will be treated with järnvitriol!!! I also think it looks awesome!

Thank you for a lovely response ;D. I've also heard others say the same as you. The paint dealers probably just want to sell expensive (bad) paint.

I have a house that was built around the 1940s-1945. Probably treated with vitrol. There is not a single flaw on it!

I bought the järnvitriolen from a paint dealer ;) Otherwise, check out our website. There's a little info about järnvitriolbehandling there.
