Hello,

I have conducted an inventory of fastening options for a sill plate on a concrete slab for my storage shed construction. I plan to build with a 145x45 sill plate and the storage will be approximately 20 sqm. My requirement is that I should be able to drill straight through the sill plate and into the concrete, and then fasten directly. So, no pre-drilling and inserting plugs, etc.

This has been discussed several times and there are threads from 20 years ago. What are people using now in 2026?

Expansion bolt
Some say it is oversized.
Good that the sill plate can be loosened if a mistake is made.

Expansion nail
Thin material, like thin sleeves. Can corrode over time.

Nail plug
Mostly for indoor use. Too weak.

Sill screw
Drill and screw directly. Seems convenient but not very common in the building store, for some reason?

I used facade plugs 18 years ago and would do the same today.

Just drill through the sill, tap it down and fasten.
Thank you, it looks convenient. What differentiates this Facade plug from a Nail plug, different names for the same thing?

Fasadplugg you screw in - Spikplugg you hammer in.

Concrete screw with hex head. So you can unscrew it if something goes a bit wrong...
