Hello forum

We are renovating the kitchen. When we removed the drywall in the kitchen, we discovered that there was rat droppings between the plastic and the insulation, as well as other small insects. Upon closer inspection, we saw that it was not sealed down from the cold attic (see picture), the insulation ends in the cold attic without any protection or anything on top, so it's open for insects to crawl down towards the kitchen. The red circles in the picture are the insulation from the kitchen's outer wall.

  • Insulation on attic floor, gaps allowing pests into kitchen. Red-circled areas highlight kitchen exterior wall insulation.
