Hello!
I'm wondering what type of insulation I should use under laminate flooring with underfloor heating (film).

The base is plywood with a plastic mat on top.
(I have bought a long-distance bus that I'm converting into a camper van.)

I have read a bit and wonder if Byggmax 50mm blue XPS 300 foam is most effective against cold bridging downward.

Should I consider anything else besides:
Foam
Building plastic
3mm mat that comes with the underfloor heating package
Heating film
And finally the laminate flooring??

Should they be laid in that order?
Should any layer be glued?
Should I cut grooves with an angle grinder in the floor to release condensation?

I would be extremely grateful for an answer.

  • A bus parked on a grassy area, viewed from the rear side. It features a blue-green color with "connexxion" branding on the sides.
  • Interior view of a bus being converted into a motorhome, showing wooden framing and unfinished flooring, with natural light coming through large windows.

Wow, how cool to convert a bus! Looking forward to seeing how it turned out (y)

There is some information on that page about insulation.

Thank you! There was some useful information there.

Exciting and inspiring project. The key is probably, as mentioned in the campervan blog, to ensure that any condensation that forms has somewhere to go.
