Hello, I have a partition wall that is not insulated. I want to insulate it because it's extremely noisy between the rooms.
I don't know if it's just drywall or if there's an OSB board behind it.
But my plan is to tear down the drywall, and if there's an OSB board behind, I'll try to reuse it.
Insulate the partition wall with fiberglass and then apply OSB and drywall.

I'm a beginner so I just want to double-check if this sounds reasonable or if I should think differently.

Is there anything specific I should consider?

If it's soundproofing you're after, weight is good. So mineral wool insulation dampens somewhat better. Double boards also provide better damping than single ones.

Daniel 109 is right. The weight of the wall is of utmost importance!
The simplest method is to add a layer of gypsum on both sides. If you want to open the wall, you can insert stone wool. Seal the partition with sealant against adjacent surfaces. Then you need to increase the weight of the wall. A rule of thumb is that if the weight doubles, the sound reduction increases by 5 dB. Several layers of gypsum increase the weight. You can fill with an extra layer of gypsum between the studs if you don't want to increase the wall thickness. Fill the stud space with stone wool. Even better is double staggered studs so that the sides of the wall are not attached to the same stud.

It is better to add an extra drywall to the wall and less work.

Thanks for the response. I have drilled now and found out that there is only one drywall panel. So I will tear it down, insulate, and put up OSB+drywall, which should make a noticeable difference and I'll use an OSB board behind so it's easy to hang things on that wall. Anything specific I need to consider? With electrical outlets or similar? There's just one outlet and nothing else on that wall.

Is there anything specific I need to think about? With electrical outlets or the like? There's only one electrical outlet and nothing else on that wall.
Maybe an electrical outlet for the opposite room?

No, it's not needed, but I do have an outlet on another wall in the room that is right behind the bed. I would have liked to have an outlet on each side of the bed. However, it's a wall that is not going to be demolished but just treated and painted, so it might be surface-mounted...

Ended with 45 mm insulation, the studs were 45 deep. Then I added OSB and renovation gypsum as there would have been issues if the wall had become thicker. Definitely think it helped. Much more muted sound from the other room now.

Important that it is airtight as well, apply some latex sealant if you haven't already done so.
