Have a log wall that needs to be insulated from the inside, where do I place the vapor barrier, on the log or on the insulation?
The vapor barrier can be up to 1/3 of the insulation value into the wall. Since timber insulates rather poorly, a moisture barrier on the inside of the timber is too far into the wall. The problem is how to make it airtight at inner walls and the like.
I don't know what it looks like on the outside, the timber should be windproof, on the inside should have something like beadboard
There is vertical paneling on the outside. The house will not have heat year-round.

On the timber or on the insulation
Always on the warm side, i.e., inside the insulation. Inside referring to the wall's construction that is... From outside to inside: Exterior panel, (air gap), wind barrier, timber, insulation, vapor brake, beadboard.
