I am in the process of decorating a room on the upper floor of our wooden house and plan to further insulate the walls and sloping ceilings in connection with this. Currently, the walls consist of paneling, plank frame, wind barrier, vertical battens, horizontal paneling, board from the outside. Initially, I thought about just adding 45mm insulation and leaving it at that, but now I'm considering removing the paneling and insulating directly on the wind barrier instead.

I save about 4-5cm in depth that way and I guess the insulation would be pretty much the same?

Any comments or suggestions?

If you want to do the job, you save space, differences in u-value (which measures how well insulated it is) become negligible in the context.
