Hello
I am planning to convert an old cowshed into a gym and hobby/film room, so I need it to have a normal room temperature. It has cast iron single-pane windows that I want to keep. I will insulate with steel studs and 15 cm of insulation on the inside of the room to retain the heat. The walls are 70 cm thick but very cold. Built of brick and cobblestone. It is an external wall that will be insulated on the inside.
I am thinking about how to build around the stable windows; they have an arched shape and I want to keep that shape.
How do I frame around them and how do I attach the drywall?
The distance between the windows is 30 cm.
A total of 18 windows.
Is 15 cm of insulation "enough"?
Is it insulation directly against the outer wall followed by plastic, and then drywall? Two arched, single-glazed cast iron windows with sunlight casting shadows on a wall, part of a former stable being converted into a hobby room.
If you have other advice, they are gladly welcomed.
