Hi!

Planning to spruce up the garage at home this fall. Today, there are 5 cm thick cell foam/polystyrene boards as insulation directly against the concrete floor, then nothing more.

The ceiling height is limited, so I'm trying to find a good solution to not reduce it but at the same time get an entirely okay ceiling that's better than today.

My current plan is as follows:

1. Replace the cell foam insulation with, for example, iCell insulation 45 mm thick
2. Frame with 45x45 in the ceiling, with 600 mm center-to-center measurements
3. Add 6 mm renovation plasterboard

What do you think of the plan, is it doomed or could it work? Should I go with 13 mm plasterboard instead, considering the 600 mm center-to-center spacing between the frames?

Thanks!
