Hello!

I consider myself a decent carpenter, mostly worked on kitchens, interior walls, and such.

Now we are planning to increase the light in one of the rooms with a fixed window, one that goes almost from floor to ceiling and is about 40-50 cm wide.

The house is a prefab house from '04, there's no electricity or plumbing in the wall.

Is this something one can undertake themselves? I have a fairly good idea of what's to be done

1) Measure up the hole, allowing for frame space and extra studs,

2) Cut out the hole with a reciprocating saw.

3) Build a frame around the hole so I have something to attach the window frame to (what to do here with the vapor barrier? Should there also be a stud at the floor? The window is supposed to go all the way to the floor....

4) Install the window, fix it with frame screws

5) Insulate

6) Nail the frame and trim externally and internally, as well as a small baseboard internally. triangular molding?

7) Metal work externally (done by a sheet metal worker)

8) Paint externally

Anything I have forgotten?

/S

Apply for a building permit if you live in a detailed planning area (if you haven't already done this?)
