Hello! I saw that there was a thread about attaching a porch roof to vertical cladding. We have a similar problem. We are going to install a curved porch roof (like a C that has "fallen forward") made of transparent plastic on a facade with horizontal Z-paneling. The thing is, we haven't installed the paneling yet. There are enough crossbeams, etc., behind the paneling that the porch roof can attach to.

But, what is the smartest way to proceed as we install the paneling? Should we first install the porch roof on the crossbeams and then try to fit the paneling around the roof? Or should we first install the paneling and then somehow cut a neat curved slot in the paneling and mount the roof in the slot (seems complicated)? I assume we also need to have a sheet metal above the roof? Are there such curved sheets available?

Many questions came up... does anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Christopher

I would have probably installed the arched roof first, then it's easy to cut out the shape of the facade boards with a jigsaw. Additionally, it makes it easier to attach the metal where it should be attached, i.e., under the facade. Any sheet metal worker should be able to manage such a piece of metal, it’s no big deal and all that’s needed is a template with the arched shape.

Went and picked up 2 such sheets/flashing for my two attic windows of the half-moon type. The windows are quite large (12 x 6) so it might be comparable to your roof. The sheet metal worker needed 1 day and I provided the frame as a template. I had to shell out 750 kr (!!) each for them. It felt expensive, but I needed them. It might be good to keep in mind that it can cost quite a bit.
