Hello,

We have a new house with an open ceiling and very poor acoustics.

We are looking into solutions and have decided that we want acoustic panels, specifically these: https://www.troldtekt.se/produkter/sortiment/designloesningar/troldtekt-line/.

When it comes to mounting these, it is recommended to use battens or steel profiles. How does this work with the existing gypsum ceiling?
Do you have to tear down the gypsum, or can you place battens on the gypsum?
We have no problem with lowering the ceiling.

What would you recommend? Anyone with personal experience?

Thanks!

At that point, I had screwed into the existing spars, they are spaced at 300mm center to center. So if you find one, you can gauge your way to the next spar, which is 28x70. This gives you some margin for error. Then if you place new spars on the gips that are also screwed into the existing spars, it will work.

As long as you find the support the drywall is screwed into, it is insignificant from an installation perspective.

The acoustics can be affected. If the panels are fuzzy throughout, the air gap behind can be significant for damping. It has to do with the wavelengths of different frequencies, and they are better dampened if certain multiples of the frequency's wavelength match the distance to solid backing and back.

If the acoustic blanket is on a hard panel, it probably doesn't matter.

So check the manual once more.
