It looks like aerated concrete and then probably a brick veneer. Brick veneers were common in the 60s and 70s. Sometimes there is insulation between the aerated concrete and the brick, sometimes just a small air gap, and sometimes none at all...

Lightweight concrete didn't exist from 1890-1910, so it's probably just a regular brick wall. But it was lucky to hit right on an old vent. :)
