I have bought a bottle of bathroom silicone to seal my hole in the wall. And I must be completely dumb because I can't figure out how on earth to open the package! So help, how do you do it?

This kind of packaging A tube of Casco wet room silicone sealant with a nozzle, used for sealing gaps in bathrooms.

Cut off the top of the threaded part with a sharp knife :)

Then you screw the "pipen" onto the threaded part, so don't cut off too much :)

You also need a skeleton gun for that tube.

Ah okay, so the entire top except for the threads can be removed?^^ I'm so afraid of breaking things too :P

I usually cut off a few millimeters, so the threads remain undamaged.

...and watch your thumb. More than ONE person has probably learned the hard way that it's better to cut towards the table than towards the thumb.

I have to fall in line with that... :banghead:

Another one who knows from experience

My thumb is fine, but I twist the tube a bit to make it easier to cut.

What you have bought is called a cartridge and should be used with one of these:

Such items can be purchased at all hardware stores and paint shops.
The width of the bead is adjusted by cutting the top of the loose nozzle to the appropriate length.

I did improv as I missed doing it with a syringe and used a glass bottle at the bottom instead, it worked too, and my hole is now sealed^^
However, I realized that this is really an emergency solution since the hole inward must be very large, the entire cartridge went into the hole... Additionally, there was a draft from the hole so you must have reached the ventilation spaces.

Without knowing exactly what the damage was, it still sounds like filling it with silicone was NOT the optimal solution.

Did you silicone the Pax fan?

Pax fan?
It probably wasn't, but it feels like repairing this damage would have meant a whole new bathroom, and I can't afford that. There was a hole in the wall in the shower area, it felt like chipboard.
I have another hole in the drywall in the small bedroom on the same wall but from the other side, so to speak, and that hole also pulls air, so there's probably some ventilation space down to the floor joists in that wall.
