Hello,
We are planning to replace the kitchen and intend to order an Ikea kitchen. As you can see in the picture, we cannot replace the fan unit, so we have to work around it. The cabinet currently hanging there is 70 cm high, but Ikea has changed their dimensions now to 60 or 80 cm.
60 cm feels very small, plus there will be a 40 cm cover panel at the top by the pipes, so it will look odd. The pipes themselves take up about 30 cm of space. You can push the pipes up 3-4 cm. So the question is whether we can hang an 80 cm cabinet there. The actual gap from the kitchen counter to the wall cabinet would then be 46-47 cm. Will it look strange? Do you have any other tips that I might have missed?

One thing I know people have done is to take the longest 100 cm cabinets, cut out for the pipes at the top and then cover inside the cabinets, so to speak. That way you can utilize the entire space up to the ceiling in the cabinet furthest to the left, for example.
We have also considered that, but what about the doors? The hinges on the doors are pre-drilled and I seem to remember that they are quite high up, which is where the pipes are located.Henningelvis said:
Then it depends on how far out from the wall the pipes are in relation to the depth of the upper cabinets. Ikea's are deeper than standard.
But no one will see that the distance between the countertop and the wall cabinets is a little smaller than usual. However, a tall person will then have a harder time seeing what's at the very back of the countertop.

I'll check it out tomorrow when I head to the house. However, it's leaning towards the 80 cabinets, and I'll try to figure out the best solution. I'm also going to Ikea to check where the hinges are on the doors.BirgitS said:
