No, I have stolpskor and a rule, there's a gap of more than 6mm.

And even then I stood there and picked out the ones that were smallest.

A 2"x 2" was probably a standard measurement before. Someone said it's because they are planed, so if you buy 45 x 45, it's 2" x 2" unplaned. The follow-up question must be, where can I buy this unplaned?

If you go to a proper building supply store like XL or Beijer, they usually always have post shoes in 45x45, 95x95 etc. I have only seen 50x50 and 100x100 at Byggmax, Biltema, and other cheap stores.

Ok. I have never bought such stolpskor so I can't comment on those sizes at all. The others like balkskor are available in both 45 and 50mm. I usually shop at Karl Hedin.

Hmm! I understand your concern, what you see in the picture is not a post shoe but a post bracket which can be used to attach "post/square profiles, 50*50 metal" on "hard" surfaces, such as concrete slabs. I myself never use these because they need to be anchored with expanders in the substrate, which always tends to end up in the reinforcement. If you are thinking of using these to attach to an organic material, it's not a good option. Buy real post shoes instead!

Okay, I have used similar ones during balcony renovations. Perfect for placing a core of 45*45 pressure-treated wood and then using 22*70 casing to clad the entire post. That makes it stable, I recall there were cast concrete slabs for the balconies.

Feels like the building material retailers need to meet and agree on what is what.
And then they could start offering 50mm steel profiles, at least in 150mm lengths that can fit into those square things. I went and bought a few pieces of 50 x 50 x 2 mm.
