I have a tiled stove where I need to remove two tiles to access the damper (which needs cleaning). However, I don't know how to remove the tiles without damaging them. When the work is done, I plan to put the tiles back in place. Does anyone have any tips?

A tiled stove doesn't have tiles but more like pie pieces that are bricked from underneath and up. It will probably be necessary to try and clean it in another way or dismantle the entire stove (which is a big job) and then rebuild it (equally big job again) to reach the things.

I believe the tiles themselves are ordinary tiles. However, the interior is some form of blocks stacked on top of each other. I think it's possible to drill into the damper rail without tearing down the entire oven, but first, I need to remove two tiles.

I've never heard of that type of kakelugn. But feel free to take some pictures so I can see. It's always fun to learn new things.

If it's a typical, old-fashioned, tiled stove, it might be difficult (or impossible) to remove and reattach two tiles in the middle.

Where is the damper located? Near the top? Then the best approach might be to remove everything above, clean, and then replace it.

To loosen the tiles on an old stove built in the traditional way, wet a towel and place it on top. The next day, the clay in the upper layers will be soft enough for you to remove them. If you want to take down more layers, apply the wet towel again and wait another day.
