Hi

I'm planning to put planks or råspont on a wall in my youngest son's room. However, the room is very small, so I don't want it to take up much space. We're thinking of using planks with a thickness of 19 mm vertically and then using the same planks horizontally on the ceiling/middle/floor as studs.

These "studs" would "only" take up 19 mm, but can I reduce it even more? You can always attach the planks with PL, but then you'd have to tear down the wall if you want to take it down one day.

Do you have any tips for putting up studs with very little building depth? Or should I be happy if I can manage with "just" 19 mm?

Thanks!

You aren't so lucky to have horizontal studs in the wall? Otherwise, you can cut plywood strips and screw them horizontally onto the wall, but then you're building the wall out by another 12 mm. Otherwise, it's probably glue or tearing off the plasterboard that applies.

Good luck

Assumed it was something like that... It will probably be 3 horizontally placed planks/råspontar as studs. Then it's built with 19 mm.

Having 19 mm as a stud, do you think it's too thin? I will nail, not screw. Is there a risk that the nails might come loose since there's so little material they're set in?

Thanks!

It's all good... use galvanized nails and it'll be great..
