I am going to build steps for my porch that, in general, should look like the picture shows. I am a bit stuck on how to make the posts that stand on the ground stable. Does anyone know if you can do this: cast two concrete footings with post bases in them, place a 95x95 post in them, and then attach the stringers to them with through bolts or lag screws. The railing and handrail also attach to the post, which should make it a bit more stable.

Will this work? If not, how should it be done? You can't really use guy lines... and you want it to be stable... thanks for now...

Let the vangstycken rest on your cast plinths, screw the posts to the vangstycken with through bolts.

You can also let the upper poles by the surface go further down and then attach the lower end under the surface, so that it forms a trianglarunder. That makes it very stable sideways.
