Good evening!
My first question here, now I'm desperate. 😬
We have previously installed a bunch of roller blinds in our apartment, but today we hit a snag.

The roller blind in our bedroom needs to be mounted over the outer corner of the window frame. The stud finder warned us, so we thought there was a wooden stud over the window, as has been the case in the other three rooms, but right behind the simple drywall there's something metal. Since we haven't yet managed to drill into the metal, we might not be able to use an anchor, as the hole is too shallow to get a longer screw through. And drywall anchors might be too deep?

What to do? Is there any way to drill through the nuisance and attach the blind there anyway, or do we have to fill the holes and make new ones elsewhere?

(My husband also drilled enormous holes and excavated half a ton of drywall, which didn't make things any better.)

  • Three drilled holes above a window frame, with a roller blind visible. The holes reveal the interior wall material, likely gypsum board.

Welcome to the forum.
I wouldn't drill holes in something that sounds like metal. It could be water pipes or electrical conduits. Or you may have hit a screw or rebar.

There are short thick plugs or anchor screws that aren't deeper than plaster/double plaster. Otherwise, perhaps you could glue up a wooden strip and attach to it?

A tip is to use wire or a knitting needle to measure how deep the plaster is.
