I'm renovating a condo where I've removed the door frame to the kitchen and I'm wondering how to close it up. The wall is a 70mm wide lightweight concrete wall. So I'm considering putting in a door casing, but there's a shortage of casings that are 70mm. I've found ones that are 80 and 85 mm, and then there are larger dimensions. So the question is whether I can install an 80mm door casing and let it stick out 5mm on each side. Or should I adjust everything to one side of the wall?
Or should I install an even wider one, for example, a 100mm, so that you can align the baseboard with the edge? Now, you can do that if it sticks out 5mm, but that might look odd? But since I'm not planning to have any trim if I put in a casing, it might look awkward if it sticks out too much on the other hand?
Or is it better to try and find a baseboard/trim or equivalent that is 70mm and add trim?
Any other tips?

is it a smyg of mdf you are going to make?..
The best is, as you say, that the smyg is as wide as the wall. And then you put trim on each side.
That goes out to the edge of the smyg, or a bit away, depending on how you want it.
If you don't have the possibility to split the board yourself, I know that several lumber yards can do it for you.
